Lennox’s favorite escape is
the Food Truck Warriors . . .until it needs his protection.

Blurb

Ash isn’t running from his past—he’s already left it way
behind. He’s built a business from scratch, using all the lessons that his father taught him,
and every day at his food truck is a challenge he was born to tackle.

But when a stalker appears, hinting that he knows the
secrets Ash has tried so hard to bury, he needs more help than his food truck friends can
provide. He needs a professional.

Lennox is a mystery. He’s been coming around the Food
Truck Warriors for months now, and nobody knows if that’s even his real name. But Ash
knows he’s fascinated by the man, and the feeling seems to be mutual.

When the threat to Ash becomes a little too real, Lennox
intervenes, and finally, the electricity between them transforms into something very much
like love. But now their safety—and their hearts—are on the line.

Excerpt

After climbing into the truck, Ash set his coffee on the counter and checked his watch. His
delivery should be here any moment, if they were on time, which . . . Ash had learned
practically from the cradle what to do with suppliers who wouldn’t keep to their timelines or
couldn’t be relied upon.

They really didn’t want to be late today.

Ash wasn’t in the mood for it.

He glanced out the front window, and froze.

There was a piece of paper taped to it—something that had definitely not been there when
he’d closed up last night.

Ash stared at the words, printed in damning black and white.

It was an interview that his father had done—likely one of hundreds, if not thousands, he’d
done over the course of his illustrious career. But in this one, he had mentioned his son,
Oliver. Who Stephan Atkinson had said with some humor, liked to be called Ash.

A silly affectation, his father told the interviewer, that he would grow out of.

Ash had been . . . maybe thirteen or fourteen if he remembered correctly, when this article
had come out, and he’d been furious. It had been one of the many things he’d been pissed
at his father for.

Now someone had found it, dredged it out of the bowels of magazine hell, had photocopied
it, and taped it to his window. Not facing outwards, so anyone could see it, but
inwards, so only Ash could.

Fury flashed with a frightening power through him. He didn’t hesitate. He grabbed his keys,
and with shaking fingers, locked up behind him. Walked around to the front of his truck, tore
the paper off, leaving the edges trapped by the neatly placed tape fluttering in the early
morning breeze, and forgoing his bicycle, took off for the one place that he’d told himself he
would not go.

Who else could have done this? Ash thought angrily as he stormed towards his
destination. It was still so early the streets were essentially empty. He’s the only one
who knows.

The building that Tony had described was only a few blocks away.

It had been remodeled, with a glass-front office on the lower level, and a living space on the
top. There were a separate set of stairs leading to a discreet door on a wrought iron landing.

A discreet black-lettered sign, matching the wrought iron of the stairs and contrasting with
the freshly painted taupe stucco of the building itself, indicated that this was the offices of
Protectorate.

It might be early, but Ash could see a figure already in the office below.

Tony had mentioned offhandedly that Lennox was a workaholic, always in the office, so it
was not a huge stretch to imagine that it was him, up early, and already working.

Ash walked over to the door, and pulled it, fully expecting it to be locked, but to his surprise
it opened easily.

Even though he must have been the one to unlock it, Lennox looked up with shock as he
walked in.

Ash imagined they probably didn’t get much foot traffic.

He stomped over to where Lennox sat at a desk, and slapped the paper down in front of
him.

“What the fuck is this?” he demanded to know.

Lennox stared at the writing. He took his time answering, clearly reading through the words
on the page once, and maybe even twice. Finally he looked up. “It looks like an interview
that your father did, talking about his restaurants, and also his son.” He hesitated. “You.”

“Yes, thank you, I can read just as well as you can,” Ash bit off. “What I mean is why
was it taped to my truck’s front window this morning?”

“Taped to your . . .”

“And not facing out, but facing in,” Ash interrupted. “So I would see it, but
nobody else. Someone wants me to know they’ve figured out who my father is.”

“And you think that’s me.”

Ash gestured wildly, pacing between Lennox’s desk, and the other, currently unoccupied.
“Who else could it be?”

“Do you really think I needed to do this to get your attention?” Lennox asked, his tone dry.

Sometimes, a kiss can
knock you out faster than a blow to the head, rendering you unable to think
straight.

Blurb

Sometimes, a kiss can knock you out faster than a blow to
the head, rendering you unable to think straight.

When drunken Michael Clayton stole a sloppy kiss in a
Parisian club, he didn’t know that this would mean war. War, as in being taught a lesson by a
shameless cowboy. War, as in being given a taste of his own medicine. War, as in being left
dumbfounded and yearning for more. Blame it on the alcohol, right? Damn, Mike hated the
guy for muddling his assumed straight orientation and raising unwelcome questions.

When noble Troy Hunter stole a revenge kiss from a
despicable hot playboy, he didn’t know that it would be all but forgotten months later.
Landing a gig on a Rio-bound cruise ship, the rising DJ is dazed when Mike strikes back with
a vengeance during their second encounter, fueling his appetite for dominance. Blame it on
the blazing sun, right? Damn, Troy hates the guy for pushing all of his buttons and rubbing
salt in old wounds.

It shouldn’t have happened, but now all bets are off. Their
feelings quickly escalate into something that they aren’t willing to label. It’s easier this way,
until it isn’t… because life’s no cruise and some experiences are life-altering. Between Troy’s
painful past and Mike’s unsettling present, their future together might be short-lived, unless
their insane chemistry compels them to push their limits and each other. So, which is it? This
or that?

This or That was previously part of a charity anthology entitled Anyone But You; it was
originally published in early 2021. Since then, I’ve added new content, including a bonus
epilogue! Same enemies-to-lovers storyline. Same hot and sweet characters. More focus on
certain scenes. Discover or rediscover Mike and Troy’s story…

If you’ve read Omega Artist (A Cocky Hero Club novel), this is your chance to see how
it all started for two familiar faces that you only briefly met since This or That is a standalone
prequel.

Excerpt

It’s impossible to think straight when he’s this close. As
annoying as he is, I can’t let him escape my clutches.

Out of reflex, my palms land on his taut chest and shove
him out of my personal space. I need oxygen, and his presence isn’t helping. Too bad he
doesn’t budge, his daring eyes capturing mine. “You and your…” I stutter and, before he says
something inappropriate, quickly add, “big mouth.”

A moan leaves his smart mouth. Seriously? “You know
what they say…” He shrugs, an amused expression on his conceited face. “Big mouth,
big

Narrowing my eyes, I can’t help but want to muzzle his
smart mouth and put it to better use. He’s impossible! Who says things like that?

The fucker unsettles me yet again by shooting me a
raunchy once-over, licking his sinful lips. “Stop looking at me like that,” I hiss.

What the hell does he want from me? We’re not quite
touching. His pupils are so dilated that it’s clear, even in the waning sunlight. “Or
what?”

Cutting off any chance of response, his commanding lips
mold against mine and his arms circle my waist. I can’t move. Once again, his lips on mine
feel so wrong and, at the same time, so right. The friction of his stubble on my clean-shaven
skin and the dance of his frenzied tongue with my greedy one send me into
overdrive.

Whimpering, I wiggle as if possessed. Going a mile a
minute, my brain is at war with my body, which craves more unprecedented sensations.
The sloppy Parisian kiss the cowboy stole months
ago enticed a hidden desire that has no place in my well-planned life. Worse, our encounter
elicited sensations that I’ve been desperate to recreate in a flurry of one-night stands, but
nothing’s worked so far.

What’s left of my willpower eventually propels me to stop
the mind-boggling tongue action. He needs to accept that I run the show.

The air thickens between us as we huff and puff.

His half-mast eyes are so much darker than they were a
minute ago. Should I keep playing with him? “What’d you do that for?”

“You’re not gonna win at this game, cowboy,” I sneer in a
rushed voice; an expression of my false bravado. “So you think.” Acutely attuned to my
hungry body, one of Hunter’s legs subtly treads closer and he leans into me.

Within seconds, his tongue fills my mouth again.
Shuddering under his touch, my resolve crumbles as the asshat deepens the kiss.
I stiffen when it evolves from bruising to tender,
although our encounter is anything but. My body temperature skyrockets
, along with my libido.

Unaware of the all-consuming passion that this kiss
provokes in me, he thrusts his hip against mine, banging my back into the wall. His jean-clad

semi rubs, grazes, and expands against mine that’s desperate for release. I try to pace
myself, but it’s a lost cause.

Overwhelmed by a myriad of toe-curling sensations, my
brain shuts down and allows my ravenous body to do the talking; maybe that’s the kind of
talking Hunter was referring to earlier!

Talk, my ass! No, no, no, keep my ass out of
this!

With that thought in mind, my tempted body is given the
green light to act.

Without warning, I close the gap between us and my
knuckles trace his sculpted abs. At once, his intoxicating scent numbs my consciousness, and
I act on the unthinkable the second his hands snake around my body. And just when I think
the fever has reached its peak, the conniving man betrays me, ditching my waist in favor of
my hair.

Why can’t you stop? Get a hold of yourself. This is your
game, not his…

Then why does the simple act of his fingers running
through my short hair increase the unbearable pressure building between my legs? I don’t
even give a flying fuck if I come in my pants.

Damn, it’s hot in here!

His urgent mouth devours my expletives and beads of
sweat run down the side of my face, but I’m too far gone to swipe them away. I’m too
blissed out to care. I’m too needy to break the spell quite yet. My senses are on alert. I want
to hate him. I hate to want him. So much…

There’s a fine line
between protecting and stalking…

Blurb

An MM romance about life, love, family and beating
the odds, especially when it involves a police officer and a dancer.

There’s a fine line between protecting and
stalking…

Logan has unwavering loyalty to the law, and when he finds
Bastien in a precarious situation, his protective instincts flare up to an all-time high. His need
to help overshadows everything else, including his sense. Unfortunately, the dancer doesn’t
want his help.

What Bastien does for a living doesn’t mean he has no
morals. He has to live, and his wages and tips don’t always cover everything. He’s glad he
doesn’t have anyone who relies on him because he can barely make ends meet working all
the hours of the day. When a so-called friend turns on him, who does he have left?

Can they put their differences aside and realise what is
right in front of them?

Excerpt

Black spun around into an elaborate dance routine, bringing him closer and closer to Logan
until he was stood with his back to him, undulating his body to the rhythm. So near that
Logan could reach if he had been allowed. But he’d not been given permission. Yet.

The lithe dancer whirled to face him, his hand going to the hem of his see-through black top
and pushing it higher until his abdomen came into view. Logan’s gaze was caught by the
sleek skin, coated with a thin sheen of sweat or oil. He didn’t care which; he just knew this
would be what Black would look like after a hard and heavy session of sex. Logan reached
for him, then clenched his fist again and rested it on his thigh. Black curled the corner of his
mouth as his whole body rippled with his movements.

The music changed to a lower, more desperate beat, and Black ripped the top over his head,
throwing it to the side. He kicked Logan’s legs together and straddled him, hovering over his
thighs while his hands pressed to the back of the sofa, bringing his upper body closer to
him.

Licking his lips, Logan’s gaze took in every part of Black he could see, including his half-lidded
eyes and bruised mouth where it appeared as though he’d been biting his lips. Black’s body
never stopped moving, but they were both caught in the heat of their locked eyes.

“Touch me,” Bastien whispered, bringing his mouth close to Logan’s ear. “Touch me…” He
pulled back and raised his eyebrow.

“Logan,” he growled.

Black pursed his lips. “Touch me, Logan.”

Logan’s cock pressed defiantly against his zipper as his eyelids briefly flickered at the sound

of his name on Black’s lips.

Not moving his hands from where they were on his thighs, he uncurled his fingers,
spreading them wide enough to reach Black’s legs. The smooth skin surprised Logan,
although it probably shouldn’t have. His fingers skimmed up Black’s thighs until he reached
the little mesh shorts he was wearing. Reining in the desire to fist his hands in the fabric and
tear them off the man, he slid his hands over the fabric to the back, cupping his ass cheeks
as Black surged forward, rolling his hips against Logan’s groin.

Black transferred his hands from the back of the sofa to Logan’s shoulders, allowing him to
take his weight as his ass rose and fell over his lap.

“Jesus,” Logan breathed, sweat beading at his temples and sliding down his face. He had not
been this hard in a long time.

“No, not Jesus, just Bastien.”

The man’s rhythm stuttered for a second before he continued, but Logan caught it and knew
the dancer had not meant to give out his name.

“Your secret’s safe with me,” Logan muttered, glancing into Black’s—no, Bastien’s eyes.

Bastien’s gaze roamed Logan’s face before he dropped one knee to one side of him and
lifted a foot to the other, giving him more room to manoeuvre and tease the hell out of
Logan. When Logan was nearing the end of his restraint, Bastien slid his feet to the floor and
dropped to his knees, sliding down, skimming every inch of Logan’s body as he went. He
blew hot air across the zipper of his trousers, then pushed up to standing, resting his hands
on the back of the sofa and bringing his face to Logan’s once more.

“What is it about you?” Bastien murmured, tilting his head and closing in on Logan’s lips,
then pulling away before they met, Logan barely stopping himself from following.

Logan took a chance and slid his hands up Bastien’s arms and around his back before resting
one hand between Bastien’s shoulder blades, his other sliding down to cup his ass. Bastien’s
movements ceased, and their breathing sounded loud despite the music.

“What is it about you?” Logan threw back before tugging Bastien closer.

About the Author

I am Elouise East but feel free
to call me Elli. I write sweet and steamy connections in gay romance. I also touch on taboo
stories under the name Elouise R East.

Books that tell the stories
where friendship and family are the focal point – be it blood family or chosen – is very
important to me. That’s why I include a variety of personalities, talents, ages, situations and
abilities as I believe a story needs, or a character needs. I want my characters to be real, to
be relatable, to be free to have whatever views they tell me they have. And trust me, most

of the time, I do not have any say in the matter!

My characters come to life on
the page for me as well as my readers. Their stories unfold in front of me, and I have very
little input into how they want to be shown. Just like real life, the lives of my characters
change with every choice, every interaction and every conversation. And I wouldn’t have it
any other way.

I write books that are
emotionally realistic, even if liberties are taken with other aspects of my stories. I don’t
know any other way to write. It comes from deep inside.

Who am I? A single parent to
two children who make life worth living. An avid reader who still devours every book she can
get her hands on. A student of learning about any subject that takes her fancy. An author of
books she would read herself. And a romantic at heart who loves anything cheesy.

Excerpt

Pet fumbled his drink, creating a clink of glass against glass
and spilling pink droplets onto the table’s surface. He had encountered Décor Preservation
Services once before, at his first auction, when they evaluated his quality and determined
what price to charge his buyers.

“And what does DPS want with us?”

Desmodian sounded too calm, considering the tremor Pet
felt running through the hand on his head.

Vige scoffed. “Really? A trio of dirty ship-dwellers running
around with one of their precious décor, and you don’t think they’re going to
intervene?”

“We’ve done nothing wrong.” Xavis ruffled his feathers
again, filling what little space remained in their alcove. “Pet was transferred to us legally.
Anyone can check the license.”

In a different situation, Pet would have stroked the feathers
back down, but he was too scared to do more than stare dumbly from person to
person.

About the Author

D’Arcy Arden grew up in
Akron, Ohio, where she attended creative art schools and was surrounded by beautiful
country landscape. This combination cultivated an interest in literature, art, and the natural
world around her. In college, she earned a Masters Degree in Fiction Writing, which
primarily taught her that there is no one way to tell a good story. So, she turned around and
went back for a degree in Animation as well. This love for both visual and written stories has
given her a preference for stories that are memorable, easy to picture, and, most
importantly, fun.

That was her main goal when
she started writing The Fourth State of Matter—to provide readers with a fun story featuring
the three S’s. Science, sex, and spaceships. It is her first published novel, but only the
beginning of a great adventure.

Alpha in the streets,
Omega under the sheets.

Blurb

Grayson Valins should have the world at his feet.
Born to one of the wealthiest families in Seattle, Grayson was raised exactly as a Valins heir
should be: sharp as a tack, witty, charming, and powerful.

He was the ideal son—until he presented as an omega.

Now he’s barely holding on to the threads of his father’s
empire, watching the vultures circling overhead. If he makes a mistake with the Felder and
Sons merger and acquisition, it’s game over.

If he doesn’t get married, either… that’s just as bad.

Zack Felder’s in over his head. After the tragic
death of his older brother, Zack has no choice but to put his music career on hold and head
back home to handle the family’s affairs. The family business is drowning, and Zack isn’t sure
what to do.

So, when the older and wildly attractive Grayson Valins
offers him a deal—a fake marriage in exchange for saving his family’s legacy—how could
Zack ever deny that?

But what happens when emotions get tangled and a good
business deal turns into something much more potent?

Omegas in Power is a stand-alone HEA 72,000-word
novel with a buff, snarky omega businessman and a sensitive, passionate alpha musician.
Warnings for mentions of off-screen child abuse and grief.

Excerpt

“Wait.”

The way Grayson said those words sent a chill down Zack’s
spine, and though he knew he shouldn’t have, Zack couldn’t stop himself from turning back
around to look at the omega.

He was closer now than he had any right to be, towering
just an inch or two above Zack, but for some reason it felt like it may as well have been a
foot. His eyes were wide, mouth open, and now that he was this close, Zack couldn’t help
but smell the sweet, intoxicating scent of slick and heat engulf all of his senses.

“Wait. Are… are you in heat?”

Grayson’s nostrils flared as he took another step closer,
Zack instinctually taking a step back. His back hit the tiled wall, breath escaping his lips.

“And if I was?” Grayson’s words came out like a purr, one
that made its way straight down from Zack’s ears and right to his cock. He leaned in close, so
close that Zack could see that his pupils blowing, irises barely a ring of gray against a sea of
black.

Fuck. I was right.

“I—I should go,” Zack spluttered, heart racing in his chest as
the omega in front of him came closer and closer, staring at him as though he were a
particularly fascinating bug. Zack needed to leave, needed to get as far away from Grayson
Valins as he could get before he did something that they
both would regret.

The man in front of him only tilted his head to the side, a
look of consternation crossing his face. “Why would you do that?”

“You’re not thinking clearly.”

“I don’t need to think clearly,” Grayson replied with a
little smirk, but the way he said it made Zack remember the words his papa taught him
when he presented. An omega in heat—particularly a
distressed omega in heat—wasn’t in the
right place to say yes to
anyone.

And propositioning a random alpha in the bathroom
sure as hell isn’t thinking clearly.

There was a tiny part of Zack, the part that yearned for a
mate as much as he yearned for the oxygen in his lungs, that made him want to keep going.
The man in front of him was beautiful and smelled like everything that Zack ever dreamed
an omega mate would smell like, but…

Zack’s pulse quickened as Grayson leaned down, their lips
so close that Zack could feel the man’s breath against his mouth. He could nearly taste him.

Every alpha instinct in Zack wanted to claim the omega in
front of him. No matter what his papa taught him, what morals and lessons he learned, it
felt as though Zack were fighting a war inside of him that he
knew he was going
to lose. If he didn’t pull back right now, if he didn’t stop himself—

He was going to claim Grayson Valins.

The same Grayson Valins that wants to take everything
away from my family. Everything.

Grayson was the one who pressed his hot, hard body
against Zack, engulfing him in a kiss that stole his breath and sanity away with tongue and
teeth. There was heat and the feeling of a hand reaching up to pull the back of his shirt tight
around his throat, making him gasp. That mouth, that sinful fucking mouth against his, made
Zack’s knees damn-near buckle under him.

But Zack liked it.

Letting himself fall into the sensations, Zack leaned into the
kiss, hands wrapping around Grayson’s broad shoulders to pull their chests flush against one
another. He could feel the shudder of the omega’s harsh breaths against his lips and the
staccato of his gasps as Zack ground their cocks together through the thin fabric of their
pants.

Grayson groaned against his mouth before grabbing Zack
by the back of his skull, forcing the alpha’s mouth against his throat. “Oh, God. Fuck.
Please—”

Please what? Zack thought
through the haze. The intoxicating smell of flowers and vanilla coffee made the hairs on his
arms stand at attention.

Grayson seemed to know exactly what he wanted, pushing
Zack against the nearby wall so hard it sent a shockwave through Zack, shaking him back to
what little sense Grayson hadn’t damn-near sucked out of his soul.

What the fuck was he doing? Someone could see
them—fuck,
anyone could walk in—but that only seemed to make Zack
harder.

Fuck, fuck, fuck.

He had ruts before where he felt nothing but the
overwhelming desire to knot and breed, but never once in Zack’s entire life did it feel quite
like this. This was a new level of need, an utterly impossible yearning to do nothing more
than fuck into that warm, tight heat he could smell permeating through Grayson’s
skin.

But with whatever self-restraint Zack had left in him he
used to press both hands against Grayson’s shoulders, shoving him back hard enough to put

a good foot of distance between them. Zack’s head hit the wall behind him with a sickening
thud.

“Fuck!” he hissed, but Grayson only panted in
response.

Today didn’t go as expected—at all.

Something flashed in Grayson’s eyes, a moment of clarity,
but before Zack had a chance to say anything, Grayson wiped his mouth with the back of his
hand.

“You don’t want me?”

“I don’t know you,” Zack shot back.

Will Elliott’s past dampen his new life?

Blurb

Life is better with you.

As a teen, Elliott Denison grapples with life, love and sexuality. His heart had been shattered every time his parents pushed him away. Life had forced him to be strong enough to endure Stanstead’s biggest bully and strong enough to come into his own as an openly gay man.

Now he was 26 years old, and a wave of emotion invaded him as though a switch had been sparked in his mind when Chase Harrison unexpectedly crossed his path. Everything Elliott ever wanted growing up was there in front of him. It doesn’t take long for Elliott to enter into Chase’s life.

Then the ugly past rears its head. Only this time, the face is a shadowy online stalker and an anonymous hater.

Excerpt

I got back home a few hours later. “Hi, I’m back,” I said. As I headed towards my room, my father asked me to join him in the living room. I did.

“What?”

My father was sitting in his chair with my mother by his side. Something didn’t look right.

“Are you a homosexual?” my father asked calmly but sternly as he turned my laptop around. I hadn’t even noticed it there.

My worst nightmare was staring at me. Ah, shit. “How come my laptop is down here?” I asked.

“I asked you a question,” my father said.

My eyes started darting around as if looking for a place to hide, but I finally looked at my father and answered, “I don’t know.”

“This is a sin!” my father yelled, slamming the laptop shut. He approached me, pointing his finger at me. “This behaviour stops now, you hear? I will not have a sinner in my house! We didn’t bring you up like this, and no son of mine will partake in such disgusting, perverted activities! If you don’t change, I will send you to conversion therapy.”

I looked at my mother for some support or compassion, but she stood there and did nothing. My father stormed outside and slammed the door behind him.

“Mom,” I said, “I’m sorry you had to find out this way.”

“You are a sinner,” she said, slapping me across the face. “You are a disgrace to this family. I would rather have a criminal for a son than a pervert. If you want to remain part of this family, you will cease this deviant behaviour immediately; otherwise, I want you out of this house.”

“Mom, please… Don’t say that. It’s not my fault. I tried to resist these feelings. Believe me, I tried.” My eyes were starting to tear up.

“You didn’t try hard enough,” she said.

“This is how God made me, Mom. I can’t change that.”

Her eyes became dark, and her pupils dilated, “Don’t you take the lord’s name in vain! Why do you insist on hurting us like this?”

“I don’t want to hurt you! Do you think this is to hurt you?”

“Liar!” Her face was so close to mine that I could smell her breath. Then she walked out.

I ran outside, slammed the door behind me, and sat on the front steps, trembling. I couldn’t stop sobbing. I called Chad and asked him if I could crash at his place.

“What happened?” Chad asked.

“My parents found out I was gay! They saw the video on my laptop. The things they said to me were so hurtful. I can’t live here anymore! All that matters to them is what the bible says! They’re ready to throw me out! I don’t mean anything to them!”

“Calm down,” Chad said. “I’ll come to pick you up. Pack your things.”

I went inside, grabbed all that would fit in my duffle bag, and stormed back outside to wait for Chad. I didn’t bother telling my parents where I was going; they wouldn’t care anyway. Chad drove up the driveway, I got in, and we left.

“What did you tell your parents?”

“I told them what you told me,” Chad said.

“Are they cool with me coming over?”

“Yes, they’re fine with it. How are you holding up?”

“I’m not sure. I don’t know what to think. I feel so ashamed.”

“Don’t. It’s not your fault.” As we pulled up the driveway to his house, Chad suggested that I see a school counsellor next week. “Maybe they can help.”

“Yeah, maybe. Thanks for everything,” I said.

As we walked in, Chad’s parents met us at the door. His mom said, “Hi, Elliott, welcome. I want you to feel comfortable here. Consider this your home now. Chad told us a bit of what happened, and we’re so sorry you had to live that.”

“Thank you, Mrs. Hardwicke.

“Come, I’ll show you your room,” Chad said as we walked up the stairs. “Rest up. If you need anything, I’m just across the hall. It will be alright, I promise.” Chad hugged me and went back downstairs.

I sat on the bed, hunched over with my head in my hands, rocking. “What am I suppose to do now? Am I such a bad person?”

Three senior girls in rural Alaska escape their abusive pasts by raising their dyke flag for themselves and their community.

Blurb

Crystal Rose woke up at three in the morning today, drenched in sweat and breathless after another sex dream with Haley Carson. Later at school in the tiny town of Clear, Alaska, Crystal saves Haley from an assault by her abusive boyfriend.

The two girls renew a love started years ago that had to stay hidden until now. But with Crystal’s grandparents in the hospital with Covid and the possibility of her drug addict parents returning from a 14-year absence, Crystal needs Haley as much as she needs Crystal.

They connect with Payton Reed, a gun-toting artist who helps them feel proud to be gay and willing to stand up to anyone. Together they struggle to make Crystal’s house safe for those who are hated for their love.

Excerpt

Crystal and JD are very happy to be back in school. They’d been online from mid-March through May and then from late August until Monday, two days ago. During that time, Crystal had seen virtually none of her classmates. She’d never been very social, but she had missed seeing her art teacher and especially Haley. They’d been close friends in the elementary grades but had drifted apart in high school.

Crystal unties her hair and shakes her head. “One reason we went back this week is that special needs students don’t learn as much in remote learning.”

“Who said that?” asks Summer.

“SPED teacher.” Crystal bends over the table to grab her computer and feels her grandmother’s eyes searching her, just like she felt the moose eyes earlier.

“Crystal, why aren’t you wearing a bra?”

She lifts her eyes to Summer, who signals to hold her shirt against her chest. “Why are you looking?” She stays bent as she shoves books and her computer into her bag. “No one cared about me wearing a bra before. What difference does it make now?”

“Crystal, we’ve talked about this. You developed over the summer. You can’t be flashing everyone.”

“Am I flashing, or are you making a special effort to look down my shirt?” She feels blood rushing to her face. Her eyes throb.

“Please stand up straight.”

Crystal finishes stuffing her pack without hurrying, drags the zipper closed then swings her pack onto her shoulder as she stands. “Better?”

“Please put on your bra.”

Mac coughs. “Just don’t bend over in front of the boys, Crystal, and keep your jacket zipped.”

Crystal cocks a brow. “Because it’d be my fault if they stared at my boobs?”

JD laughs. “Gena calls them boobs too. A lot of my friends call them tits.”

“JD!” Everyone flinches when Summer slaps the table. Crystal can remember only one or two other times when she screamed at JD. He now stands with his mouth open, breathing noisily. His eyes bulge. “There’s no need to be crude. Why are you and Gena talking about her . . . breasts?”

Because they’ve been having sex for the past six months, thinks Crystal so loud she wonders whether anyone hears her. “C’mon, JD. We need to go.” Crystal pushes a chair farther under the table and heads for the door.

Summer grabs her arm. “Why are you being so defiant about this?”

“I’ve gone my whole life without my chest being strangled and bound. No one cared. Now if I don’t crush my boobs all day and much of the night, there’s something wrong with me. Guys go shirtless at PE all the time. Why can’t the girls?”

“That’d be embarrassing,” laughs JD as he moves through the door. “Hope you feel better, Mac.”

Summer releases Crystal’s arm and wrings her hands. “Now you want to go topless? Where are you getting these ideas?”

“Why do I have to get them from somewhere besides my own head? Cause I’m too dumb?” Her heart pounds in her chest and lips tighten against her teeth. She wants to say much more but is afraid to start another argument. She tries to slow her breathing. “Hope you feel better, Mac.” She exits the house and heads toward her Honda 4-wheeler where JD sits sideways behind the seat.

“I think it’s my turn to drive,” he says, just like every morning.

Crystal straddles the seat and starts the motor. “It’s not your turn until you’re older than me.”

“And what day will that happen?”

“Exactly.” She zips up her jacket, shifts gears, and races away from the house down her long driveway, bordered by spruce and aspen.

Last weekend, Kato told her she needed to wear a bra when she returned to school. He said he didn’t want guys staring at her all day. They’d been best friends their whole lives and had never even kissed. Then her boobs grew over the summer, and he couldn’t keep his hands off her. He complained she was teasing him, being coy, making him think dirty thoughts. All during July and August, she’d felt excited and confused, sometimes angry. Before this past weekend, they’d only kissed, and honestly, she’d never wanted to do anything more.

But she finally relented. The experience wasn’t very exciting, certainly nothing like her dreams of girls. Or kissing Haley in fifth grade.

At first, the dreams bothered her. Could something more be wrong with her brain beyond what school told her? She’s never fantasized about a boy. After Saturday’s session with Kato, she believes she understands why, but doesn’t know what to do or who to tell.

Maybe Haley?

What’s the worst that could happen?

She could laugh. Walk away. Tell others.

What’s the best she could say?

Me too.

How amazing would that be?

When the best option offers so great a reward, Crystal always ignores the danger. Witness—her encounter with the moose this morning.

Maybe she’ll talk to Haley today.

About the Author

Brooke Skipstone is a multi-award winning author who lives in Alaska where she watches the mountains change colors with the seasons from her balcony. Where she feels the constant rush toward winter as the sunlight wanes for six months of the year, seven minutes each day, bringing crushing cold that lingers even as the sun climbs again. Where the burst of life during summer is urgent under twenty-four-hour daylight, lush and decadent. Where fish swim hundreds of miles up rivers past bear claws and nets and wheels and lines of rubber-clad combat fishers, arriving humped and ragged, dying as they spawn. Where danger from the land and its animals exhilarates the senses, forcing her to appreciate the difference between life and death. Where the edge between is sometimes too alluring.

Crystal’s House of Queers is her third novel.

Blurb

Meet Ryan, aka, Joey Hole, disgraced former adult
entertainer with more issues than he can keep track of. His boyfriend left him for an
Instagram twink with 150K followers, his Mum wants him out of her spare room and then
there’s that idiot at college who just won’t take no for an answer.

Meet Luke. He was once the rich kid who’d just been gifted
his first car, and now he doesn’t even own a bike. He’s also slumming it in a house full of
ungrateful siblings and his first trip to the Food-bank gave him some goddamn emotional
scars. Life is getting better though, and he’s acing it at college, as well as making some
brilliant new friends. Well except for that stuck up twatwaffle Ryan who won’t talk to him
and refuses to like his brilliant social media posts….

The first book in the new London Series. This series
will follow the ups and downs of three couples living extraordinary ordinary London
lives.

My headphones blasted music as I walked down the college
corridors towards the on-site gym, where our first session today would cover gentle
workouts for the older generation, a topic I found intriguing. I liked the idea of giving
something back. Not that I had any contact with any of my grandparents. All except for my
maternal grandfather had long departed, and I wasn’t even sure he still lived in the country.
Family could be an unwelcome obligation, but if there was one thing I would fight for to the
death, it was that Olive would never be sent to some goddamn boarding school and would
never, fucking ever be looked after by our parents again. That was like…
fuck. I was sweating
just imagining the horror my little sister would go through. In any circumstance, it would
never happen. She had us in her corner now, and we would bloody protect her to the end of
the earth.

The gym was busy as always, a few people huddled over by
the water dispenser, and there was muffled giggling coming through from the weights room,
where I could see all the girls in our class bent over staring at the phone in Danielle’s hand.
Well, all except Bridget, who stormed out and barged past me without saying hello.

“What did you do to Bridget?” I asked, squeezing down on
the last remaining place on the bench and huffing in disappointment when Danielle pressed
the screen against her chest and glared at me like I’d interrupted something private. I
probably had, but as always, I didn’t have the sense to care.

“You don’t want to see this,” she said, an odd mix of
excited and horrified.

“Why? Is it porn or something?” I didn’t know why I said
these things, but Inez looked like she was about to cry.

The other girl, whose name I momentarily couldn’t
remember, whispered, “Go on, show him.”

It was a shitty thing to do. A shitty thing to show any
human being. Danielle shoved her phone in my face, and right there, filling the entire
screen, someone’s arse was being pounded by one of the thickest dicks I’d ever seen. The
sound was off, but from the way the owner of the arse was shaking, it must have bloody
hurt. Not that the guy attached to the dick seemed to care, letting his thing slide in and out
of the slick hole, which gaped and then clenched before the guy brutally shoved his dick
back in.

They were two guys, that was clear. A sculpted stomach
came into view as the bloke on the bottom was flipped over, and a curved dick bounced
against his stomach.

I realised I was blushing, my face flaming in
embarrassment. Not for me, because…it was porn. Gay porn, admittedly, but still porn. I
really wasn’t into this kind of stuff in public, and anyway, who watched porn with a bunch of
girls?

“Put that shit away before Mr Greenwood comes in and
has you thrown out. For fuck’s sake, Danielle!”

“You need to watch it to the end,” she insisted, thrusting
the phone back in my face.

“I really don’t want to.” I got up to leave, but Inez grabbed
my arm and pushed me back down.

“You should know,” she said, turning even paler. “I don’t
agree with Danielle showing it, but someone needs to tell him.”

“Tell me what?”

“No, not you. Someone needs to talk to Ryan.”

“For fuck’s sake.” I was in no way a worldly guy, but
seriously?

“Ladies, I’m sure as a gay man, Ryan knows where to find
gay porn if he feels the need. I’m not going to go tell him that you girls found gay porn on

the big ugly web and feel the need to warn him there are men out there who want to stick
their dick up his arse.”

“Who wants to stick their dick up my arse?”

That was Ryan, thank God, because I didn’t want to explain
this shit on my own.

“The girls found porn on the web, and it’s done something
to their brains.”

I was expecting him to laugh, but instead, he turned around
and left the room.

“What’s going on?” I called after him as Danielle once again
thrust the phone back in my face.

And on the screen was none other than Ryan, sticking his
tongue out with a cheeky wink before swallowing some guy’s dick down his throat.
