Sometimes it takes finding
love to appreciate the best parts of yourself.

Blurb

Decades after leaving behind a king who attempted to sell
him for wizard experimentation, Lex D’Vairedraconis lives in a place filled with loved ones. At
Court D’Vaire, the dragon shifter has access to everything. He wants for nothing. But his lack
of purpose frustrates him. Surrounded by successful people, Lex can’t figure out how to
channel his energy. And he dearly wants to know why Fate hasn’t paired him with
anyone.

Rutledge Blackstone is alone. As a gargoyle, he shouldn’t

live among humans, but he fears the many enemies hunting his kind. To survive, gargoyles
must separate. His parents, and even his twin brother, have left him in a house slowly
crumbling around his ears. To comfort himself, he records every happy moment in a
notebook, and waits for the day to add more memories to his treasure trove.

But the gargoyles aren’t being tracked by foes alone. The
new gargoyle rulers and their allies want to aid people like Rutledge. To his shock, the
Council of Sorcery and Shifters wants him to join, and he soon lands an invitation to the
renowned sanctuary at Court D’Vaire. Before he can decide whether to accept, he meets
Lex. Their attraction is instant, but Rutledge is anything but intrepid.

To build a life together, they must learn to love
unconditionally and find their true purpose in life.

Excerpt

Everything inside Rutledge went on instant alert. To his
shock and mild horror, his dick sprang to life, and he hoped no one noticed he was fully
erect. The scent of dishwashing detergent, fabric softener, and household cleaner hit his
nose with unrivaled intensity. The smells of a happy home, something Rutledge yearned for
but feared to ask Fate for. His gargoyle roared with excitement, and the feeling of safety
flowed through Rutledge as his gaze locked with a brown-eyed stranger.

The man was probably about six-foot-three, which made
him about five inches taller than Rutledge. Although he wasn’t lanky by traditional
standards, his shoulders weren’t nearly as broad as a gargoyle’s. His dark hair was short and
combed away from his handsome face. Rutledge’s newfound ability to categorize multiple
races told him the man was a dragon shifter.

The stranger had paired a soft beige sweater nearly the
color of Rutledge’s shirt with faded jeans and boots that matched his scaly irises. His
expression was as astonished as Rutledge felt. Rutledge wondered if he was unhappy with
Fate’s choice for him, and he wished he could ask without embarrassing them both.
Desperate to remember every detail of this life-altering moment, Rutledge didn’t think. He
yanked out the notebook from his shirt pocket, along with a tiny pencil, and scribbled a
detailed description of his mate onto the first blank page he flipped to.

No one in the room said a word as Rutledge muttered and
glanced back at the man in between his hastily scrawled words to ensure that he described
his gift from Fate properly. His gargoyle wanted to know more, but Rutledge could get to
that once he’d finished recording everything to read later when he was alone again.

On his third page, Rutledge finally noted that there were
wolves in the room, and he barely bit back his scream.

“Wolves,” Rutledge yelled.

“Conley, you didn’t tell him we were bringing Nox and
Mortis?” asked a man who had to be six-six and had straight locks that fell to his shoulders in
a silky rain of blue and navy.

“It’s better to explain that in person, I think,” Conley
defended. “Rutledge Blackstone, allow me to present their Highnesses, High King Aleksander
and High King Rafe D’Vaire. The wolves on either side of them are resurrected sentinels tied
to their souls to protect them.”

“You’re supposed to introduce Squirt first,” Aleksander
replied. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Blackstone.”

“I’m sure Dra’Kaedan doesn’t mind if I do things a little out
of order,” Conley argued.

“No, but it’s irritating when people talk about me like I’m
not in the room,” a short man with blond ringlets retorted. “Anyway, I’m Dra’Kaedan, and
the guy scowling behind me is my mate, Brogan.”

“Why do you always assume I’m scowling?” Brogan asked,
his navy eyes narrowed.

“Because he has yet to be wrong about it,” a man with a
striking resemblance to Aleksander drawled in a beautiful, crisp English accent. The others in
the room had fainter echoes of something far from the Texas drawls Rutledge was used to
hearing, but this stranger’s accent was thicker. “Excuse us, we don’t know how to act
appropriately. I’m Worth, and next to me is my best friend, Lex.”

Lex caught Rutledge’s full attention again, and he nearly
jotted his mate’s name down, but he needed to know if the short name was as simple to
spell as it was to pronounce.

“L-e-x?” Rutledge clarified.

A smile played around Lex’s mouth, and Rutledge noticed
dimples so faint he nearly missed them, which he hurriedly added to his list.

“Yes, Rutledge, that’s how I spell it,” Lex said, his accent
even more toe curling than Worth’s.

“How do you spell your name?” Lex asked.

“R-u-t-l-e-d-g-e,” he responded immediately and wondered
why that was important. There was no notebook in Lex’s hands, but maybe he kept a journal
at home?

“Hush, Mortis, I don’t know,” High King Rafe whispered
loudly to the black wolf with hints of navy in his fur. Like Lex and Worth, his accented English
told of a man who’d once lived far from Las Vegas.

Rutledge’s gaze widened as Lex winked at him.

“It’s okay, Mortis,” Lex said. “Rutledge is my mate, and
that’s why it’s important to know how to spell our names.”

“Yes,” Worth shouted as he lifted his fists in celebration. “I
told you your other half was out in the world waiting for you. Now you’ve finally left the
house, and right here he is.”

Lex glared at the taller dragon. “That’s not quite how I
remember the conversation.”

“Yes, well, if you’d written it down like our fair Rutledge,
you could prove your point, but alas, it is your word against mine,” Worth countered.
“Congratulations to you both.”

“Kind of makes you want to hit him with your car again,
doesn’t it?” Aleksander asked Lex.

“It’s a frequent feeling I’ve grown used to in the years that
have passed since,” Lex groused with a glare for Worth as he took two steps closer to the
gargoyle, who was reeling from the extraordinary meeting with the D’Vaires. “Thank you for
agreeing to this visit today, Rutledge. It is an absolute pleasure to meet you.”

Overwhelmed by Lex’s beauty, sexy accent, and lovely
scent, Rutledge managed a blush and a nod.

Excerpt

“Nurse Ian.” He raises his thick, dark brows a fraction, his eyes
sparkling as he smirks. “Mo—Martha has told me all about you.” His voice is soft, light, and
playful.

“You’re her grand-nephew?”

“Brin.” He flicks his gaze over me. “You are gorgeous.”

I take a half step back. “Uh—”

“I shouldn’t have said that, should I?” He runs his thumb over
his bottom lip. “I’d apologise, except it’s true. Hm, you are one gorgeous man.”

So is he. I swallow, needing to maintain my composure and
remain professional. “Martha is through here.” I gesture to the lounge.

“She likes that room. Have you seen the rest of the house? I
could give you a tour.”

“No, I haven’t.”

Brin flounces into the house, kicks his boots off, and wanders
into the lounge. I follow in his wake. He leans down to kiss his great-aunt on the forehead,
grabs a cake off the plate, and sits in a chair with one leg looped over the arm. He peels the
case away from the cake and takes a big bite. Crumbs drop onto his chin, so he flicks his
tongue out to lick them off.

“Ian is here to do my welfare check,” Martha explains.

“I guessed.” Brin stares at me as he devours the rest of the
cake.

I can’t take my eyes off him.

“Don’t let me stop you from doing your job. I love watching a
man in uniform work.” He winks.

“You’ll have to forgive him. My grand-nephew is a terrible flirt,”
Martha says.

I scrabble to get the blood pressure monitor out of my bag and
kneel beside Martha.

“A man in uniform on his knees. Sexy.”

“Brin,” Martha says, her tone not as sharp and short as I’d
expect for a true admonishment.

“What? It’s true.”

Mates are forever, but
sometimes the road to eternal love is far from easy.

Blurb

Masse is a mage of earth, but he was born with a special
gift. Thankfully, a nomadic tribe of men stumbled upon him in his youth and recognized it.
The men rescued him from his isolated village, and since Masse was three he has worked
diligently to embrace his unique skills. Now twenty, Masse tries to be perfect but often
winds up punished for breaking their strict rules and testing his limits.

At birth, Fate slapped a phoenix on the arm of Jarl Kolsten
Eldrvalkyria, making him the first leader of his people chosen divinely. Surrounded by family
and friends, Kolsten loves his life and does everything to aid the exceptional phoenixes in his
village. A lover of books and long walks, he wanders through the woods one day and meets
his mate.

Kolsten and Masse come from two different worlds, and
their beliefs differ vastly. Unable to deny his attraction to Kolsten, Masse is fearful of building
a bond with him. Masse must decide between his destiny and his heart. But before they can
have the eternity Fate chose for them, Kolsten and Masse learn no road is without peril. And
even the best laid plans cannot account for the twists and turns of life itself.

Excerpt

The chilly air slapped him in the face, and Masse smiled as
he lifted his head to catch a snowflake on his tongue.

“I have decided I love winter,” Masse said.

“It becomes you,” Kolsten remarked softly, then scooped
Masse into his arms and ran to their longhouse.

Masse laughed uproariously and dutifully pushed the door
open to allow them entry. As ever, the fire was a welcome respite from the cold, but the
home was not nearly as warm as the hall filled with bodies. That did not matter to Masse.
The second his feet hit the floor, Masse peeled off his cloak, carefully set the sharp axe on
the table where they took their meals, and shoved off his boots.

“I was worried you would object to leaving the curtains
open so I could see your body by the light of the fire, but my concerns seem to have been
for naught,” Kolsten mused as Masse stripped and refused to feel anything but desire and
love as he removed his clothing.

“Is it wrong to act with such freedom with one’s mate?”
Masse asked, his cock hardening as Kolsten sat to remove his footwear after hanging up his
cloak.

“No, but I would rather you not be chilled either,” Kolsten
replied with a small smile.

“Since you are moving so slow, I will await you beneath the
covers.”

Kolsten chuckled as Masse rushed to their bed and
burrowed beneath the sheet. The phoenix shifter warmed Masse’s blood with his fair visage
and tempting mouth, but even the Jarl of Eldrvalkyria was no match for the bite of a winter
night. Masse waited impatiently until Kolsten strode over with his thick member half
hard.

Luxuriating in the feel of his skin against Kolsten’s as his
mate pulled him into his arms, Masse pointed to a thick pouch.

“One of the villagers gave me a special oil scented with
blooms as a gift this morn. She mentioned it would be lovely to use when your phoenix bit
me instead of using common oil. I was not sure what use she intended it for, but we cannot
stray from your traditions.”

“Sex is not something we shy away from discussing in our
village. We allow none to enter a matebond unaware of how two people may please one
another, no matter how they are fashioned,” Kolsten told him softly with a kiss to Masse’s
nose. “Oil is used to allow one man to take another.”

“You spoke of putting your member inside me, yet we have
not done so. Is that what you mean?”

Kolsten’s hand moved down to cup Masse’s arse. A shiver
and a gasp escaped Masse as Kolsten’s fingertip grazed his hole.

“The oil is used here, my Masse. With my fingers I would
stretch this tight skin until it is ready to welcome my cock. Then I would thrust deep inside
you and spill my seed. Or if you had an interest, you could prepare me in that way and make
love to me in that fashion.”

There was something in the way Kolsten said those words
that had Masse tilting his head to study his other half. “You are less than enthusiastic about
being the one penetrated.”

“It is not something I have done before. I was not inclined
to try it, but things are different with you. We are mates, and I would fulfill your every
dream.”

“You have taken other men this way?”

“Masse, I do not wish to discuss it.”

Strangely delighted with the irritation in Kolsten’s voice,
Masse grinned. “But what if it were my dream to know the names of your lovers? You do not
wish to break tradition and deprive me of anything, do you?”

Kolsten narrowed his eyes. “Would you prefer to roll over
and pleasure yourself while I took a well-earned rest?”

“Your phoenix would not grant you the mercy of sleep,”
Masse retorted and brushed their lips together. “I will not ask about your previous lovers,
but I do wish to be taken fully. You inside me, spilling your seed. That is my dream this
night.”

“I must ask if you are sure.”

Instead of a sweet kiss, Masse slipped his tongue deep into
Kolsten’s mouth and did not stop tasting him until they were both fully erect. Masse wiggled
against Kolsten to ensure his mate felt the proof of his desire. “Kole, this is what I
want.”

The ruler of the sprites meets a proud, but wayward harpy. Will their love survive a little trickery?

Blurb

At eighteen, Warrior Chieftain Kitlivri Cyrrien of the Sprite Grove gained his title. On a dark night, Kitlivri lost his parents, sister, and nearly his entire population thanks to a horrid wizard potion. The Draconises took in him and his brothers, and Kitlivri gradually healed. Now he is a talented businessman, and the sprites have expanded by three dozen. Honored to be the Warrior Chieftain, Kitlivri does not want to give up his important role in Draconis Enterprises, but he believes it’s a necessity.

Jace Pagonis is a proud harpy, but he chafes at his people’s antiquated rules. When Jace isn’t arguing with his mother—the leader of the harpies—he’s sneaking around to improve his archery skills. Weapons and tricks are forbidden to harpy men but are necessary for the women, who are responsible for the men’s survival. Desperate to convince his mother to join the Council, Jace creeps out of his village one night to explore.

Two weeks into his fact-finding mission, Jace meets Kitlivri and is stunned to discover that Fate has selected them as mates. Jace misses home, but he cannot leave Kitlivri, nor does he want to explain to the courageous sprite that he’s the bratty son of the harpy ruler. Jace throws himself into life as Kitlivri’s other half and co-leader of the sprites, but weaves tales to avoid the truth. However, secrets never stay hidden for long, and Jace must face his lies or risk losing Kitlivri forever.

Excerpt

Jace scratched his head and tried to make sense of their conversation. “You want to bind our souls for eternity but be just friends for now?”

“Is that such a horrible thing? We did already agree not to rush intimacy.”

“Yes, but you also mentioned you were interested in kisses. I’m confused,” Jace said. “I’m not against going slow, I just want to make sure I understand. I don’t want to do or say the wrong thing. I’ve spent my entire life disappointing people with my inability to fall in line with their expectations. I’d like to avoid that in the future.”

“I don’t have a strict timeline in my head of when I think we should move from friends to lovers or whatever. As we get to know one another, I think we will figure it out.”

“I understand,” Jace said. “Perhaps it’s something we can discuss in the future.”

“Communication is definitely key to a good matebond.”

Although Jace understood Kitlivri had experienced tremendous loss, it was deflating to think they were entering another lie. Among harpies, there was no bargaining with Fate when it came to her choices for a person. Fate chose mates and leaders, and she guided the decisions of her chosen. This was honored without question.

Though Jace flaunted his mother’s rules, his parents had a love that was indisputable. His older sister had her other half too and was rarely seen without the woman Fate had picked for her.

The rebellious part of Jace that wanted to forge his own path should’ve applauded Kitlivri’s desire to ensure that what Fate did aligned with his desires for his life. Instead, Jace wondered if the Warrior Chieftain was already displeased by him.

A voice in his head told him he was being unfair and should pay more heed to Kitlivri’s words about his devastated family, so Jace set aside his unkind feelings. Kitlivri was scared, and it was Jace’s role to support him, not question his motives.

“Yes, it is,” Jace said and somehow managed not to cringe since he’d already told lies and half-truths to Kitlivri. Jace wasn’t proud of his dishonesty, his unkind thoughts about Kitlivri’s desire to take their relationship slowly, or himself, in the general sense. It wasn’t until Jace had left his mother’s village that he’d understood how little confidence he truly had, and he was clueless about how to mend himself.

“I’m sorry I’ve upset you.”

“No, you haven’t,” Jace said. “I assure you I’m fine with moving slow. I’m upsetting myself by being foolish, and I understand why caring for someone must terrify you. Thank you for being courageous enough to share that with me. In time, I hope to offer you the same honesty.”

“Love is scary, but I’m already committed to being your best friend.”

The closest thing Jace had to a friend was his father, and Zephyr’s priority was, understandably, his mate.

“I’ve never had a best friend. I’d like to be yours,” said Jace.

“We might even find that we like each other.”

Jace grinned. “You have a growing list of attributes, Kit.”

“As do you.”

“Are you ready to do this matebond thing now?” Jace asked.

“I’m nervous, but yes.”

“Good, I’m glad I’m not the only one.”

Kitlivri held out his hand, and Jace didn’t hesitate to take it. “Did I thank you for agreeing to nearly every D’Vaire tradition?”

“Excuse me? I agreed to them all. You’re the one who was worried some of the feather markings on my skin would disappear if we did those tattoo-like mating marks,” Jace argued.

“I’m a fan of your feathers. Are you okay with sharing a bedroom with me tonight? I’d rather it be no one’s business but our own that we’re postponing intimacy.”

“I think I can handle my desire to ravish you.”

“I’m hoping I have the same ability to resist you,” Kitlivri said. “You are captivating.”

“Not a horrible thing to hear from a handsome man.”

“Am I allowed to call you that too, or will it offend you?” Kitlivri asked.

“As long as you see me as more than the face Fate gave me, you may comment on it as much as you like.”

“Or I could compliment you on other features.”

“I might be harpy enough to enjoy them too.”

“Jace, will you be my mate today?” Kitlivri asked.

“Yes. Yes, I will.”

Jace’s future was a blurry road with no destination in sight, but Fate had given him someone to travel it with, and he would do his best to rise to the challenges ahead.

Reckoning with the past just might destroy Grady and
Dawson’s plans for the future

Blurb

Three deadly accidents that might have been magical
murder. A dark witch with a grudge against the King family. Federal agents with supernatural
abilities. And, as usual, Dawson and Grady are smack dab in the crosshairs of trouble even
they can’t outrun.

When Grady King’s brother Knox is targeted by shady
characters, old secrets, coverups, and lies come to light. Grady and his boyfriend Dawson
begin to question what really happened when Grady’s grandparents and Dawson’s parents
died. Then agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Supernatural Investigation show up
pursuing a different case, only to discover that the crimes appear to be connected, with a
vengeful dark witch at the center of the plot. And since monsters never sleep, Grady and
Dawson are still carrying out their duty to hunt dangerous paranormal creatures, restless
spirits, nefarious faeries, Civil War ghosts, creepy cryptids, and things that go bump in the
night. It’s all part of the centuries-old King family mandate to protect the people of

Grady loves, it’s time to dig into the family’s painful past, uncovering dangerous details of
long-ago hunts against immortal creatures who never forget—or forgive.

Can they solve the mystery and figure out who’s behind the
deaths, or will they bear the deadly consequences of their hidden history? Reckoning with
the past just might destroy Grady and Dawson’s plans for the future and set loose a tide of

A sorrowful reaper with
a heart encased in ice.

A lonely rock star who
walked away from everything.

What chance do they
have at love?

Blurb

Ripped apart by life, Lich Reaper Grymington Daray is
drowning in sorrow. Each day, he strives to find the people responsible for killing his best

friend, and he wishes his own existence had more meaning. The last thing on Grymington’s
mind is finding the other half of his soul. While a loving family surrounds him, the coldness
growing in his heart keeps him separated from joy.

Decades ago, Devlin Nero ran away from the world. Being a
rock star was everything Devlin wanted, but it turned into a nightmare. Now, the enchanter-
human hybrid is living alone and surrounded by nothing but fading memories. Desperate for
happiness, Devlin makes his way to the Council of Sorcery and Shifters and winds up at a
sanctuary designed for freaks like him.

On a fateful day, Grymington and Devlin discover they are
mates. Sparks fly, and the two men venture forth to honor Fate’s choice for them. However,
Grymington is too lost and much too fearful to allow Devlin near his tattered soul. Devlin
wants love, but the Lich Reaper may not be able to offer it. If their confusing relationship
isn’t enough, they have pasts to reconcile, and the future will not wait. It will be up to
Grymington and Devlin to discover if they have a matebond worth saving.

Excerpt

“You still play and sing?” Grymington asked.

“Every day. Music is me, and I love composing words,
writing melodies, and crafting beautiful songs. But trust me…I don’t deserve to be standing
on a stage to cheers while I belt out a tune. My decision to leave my career wasn’t fair, and I
hurt people, including someone I loved. It ruined everything she worked for, and I still lack
the courage to do anything about it. That’s probably not the best thing to tell the person
you’re hoping to build a matebond with, but I’ve learned the value of honesty, and I won’t lie
to you about the kind of person I was or am.”

“I wasn’t resurrected yet in 1998 when you left, but I’m
going to download your music after I get home.”

“You’ll have to let me know what you think.”

“I will. I guess you don’t miss it,” Grymington said. His dog
ventured over to lie across his sneakered feet.

“Who wouldn’t miss having fans? I enjoyed that part, but
I’m good without having any of the rest of it in my life.”

“If you’re not a rock star, what are you going to do now that
you don’t have to hide?” Grymington asked.

Devlin shrugged. “I haven’t figured that out yet. I haven’t
been a D’Vaire that long, and now I have a matebond to focus on. I’m in no rush to decide
anything. Taking things a day at a time is far less intimidating than trying to structure my
entire life.”

“I do that too,” Grymington confided softly. “It is definitely
easier if I focus on a single day at a time.”

“I hope it’s one of many things we find we have in
common.”

They fell silent again, and Devlin studied the sexy man
sitting several feet away. There was something about Grymington’s pert nose and his perfect
heart-shaped mouth that brought out a visceral reaction from Devlin. Cute men had always
been his downfall, and Grymington had no match. The desire to taste Grymington was so
intense, Devlin went with instinct, though he acknowledged he was probably being led by
his dick.

“I’d love to kiss you,” Devlin murmured.

Grymington’s pale citrine-colored gaze widened for a
second, then a rush of euphoria rushed through Devlin as the reaper scooted closer to him.

“I haven’t been kissed before,” Grymington offered
apologetically.

The grin Devlin gave him was wolfish. “I know.”

Because he had to touch those messy curls, Devlin lifted a
hand and tangled his fingers in the soft blond twists. Grymington titled his head so their eyes
met fully, and Devlin swore the faint smell of lilies bewitched him.

Since he was worried that the spell could break at any
moment, Devlin leaned forward and pressed his lips to Grymington’s. The reaper lacked
experience, but Grymington had initiative. Grymington’s mouth parted, and Devlin wasn’t
foolish enough to ignore the invitation. Their tongues touched, and Devlin nearly
moaned.

His scent was elusive, but Grymington’s taste was
intoxicating. The way Grymington copied each thing Devlin did was a lovely reminder of his
innocence. It brought out a tender side of Devlin he hadn’t known existed as he carefully
explored Grymington. Devlin rested his free hand on Grymington’s waist and stifled the urge
to crush the reaper in his arms.

Ever so gently, Devlin coaxed Grymington into tipping his
head slightly, and it took their kiss to an entirely new level. With nothing but the simplest of
touches, Devlin grew hard, yet he was in no rush to devour Grymington. It would be an insult
not to savor him, and Devlin refused to squander such an opportunity.

Instead, Devlin used his many years of practice to please
Grymington. Devlin teased, tormented, and nibbled Grymington’s lips. When he finally lifted
his head, Devlin was outrageously pleased by the desire swimming in Grymington’s
gaze.

“You’re a beautiful kisser, Grym,” Devlin murmured.

“Thank you, so are you,” Grymington replied. “I’d like to kiss
you again.”

Since only a fool would tell Grymington no, Devlin smiled at
him and dove in for another taste.

Excerpt

Strange feelings fluttered through Grymington that made
little sense as he strode toward the great room, but the erection that tented his jeans the
moment he put a sneaker into the space took him by surprise.

A rush of pumpkin spice filled his senses, and Grymington
nearly smiled; he loved fall. But he was unnerved by the stiff dick in his pants and the
knowledge of what a newly found sexuality meant for him. His gaze went unerringly to a
stranger staring at Grymington with his mouth slightly ajar. The shocked expression didn’t
mar the man’s masculine beauty. Nothing could disguise the sensuality in his pink lips or rob
his electric blue eyes of their intensity.

Although there was a messiness to his hair, something in
Grymington told him it was purposeful and nothing like the typically tousled mops of
sentinels who refused to bother with grooming products or even running a comb through
their tresses after training. The black strands hung in thick layers accented by the same blue
of his magnificent irises.

Somehow, this man was Grymington’s mate. What the hell
could Grymington offer anyone? How could he be responsible for a relationship? Then again,
what kind of person would it make Grymington if he walked away from him?

“…and this is Lich Reaper Grymington Daray, though
everyone calls him Grymmie,” Dra’Kaedan said. “Grymmie, this is Devlin D’Vaire.”

The rock star who’d mysteriously disappeared was
Grymington’s mate, and the reaper could barely get his feet in motion again to move toward
him.

The man was about five inches taller than Grymington and
wearing faded jeans torn in several spots. Paired with the denim, the newest member of the
D’Vaires wore a collarless button down which was half tucked into his pants.

The thin material hung loosely and nearly hid the thick
dragonskin belt. His sleeves were rolled up, exposing tattoos over both forearms, but
Grymington could not appreciate the art from such a distance. Grymington sidled
fractionally closer and wondered what the fuck he was doing.

Devlin chuckled, and the throaty sound punched
Grymington in the gut.

“Unreal,” the hybrid breathed out.

He was new to the Council and likely didn’t know that it
was traditional to announce to loved ones the moment two mates met, so Grymington lifted
his chin. The Lich Reaper wanted to run and had absolutely no clue how to handle this latest
development in his life, but he would not be a coward.

“Dra’Kaedan, thanks for introducing me to my mate,”
Grymington said.

The Grand Warlock blinked and whooped loudly.

“Fate’s sake, did everyone hear that?” he yelled.

Brogan slapped his hands over his ears. “Sensitive shifter
hearing, Baby. I’m standing right fucking next to you, you don’t have to scream.”

Across from Grymington, Devlin licked his top lip in a way
that made the reaper’s belly flop, then smirked. “A pleasure to meet you, Grymmie.”

“Yeah, great to meet you too,” Grymington murmured, his
rush of bravery long gone.

With the left corner of his mouth still lifted wryly, Devlin
bent down onto one knee and carefully lifted his hand toward Hekate, who padded close to
sniff him.

“And who is this lovely lady?”

“That’s Hekate,” Daemon Lord Baxter Daray stated as he
stalked into the room with his mate, Benton. “Grymmie’s dog.”

“I think he figured out that Hekate is a dog,” Benton
muttered.

“You’ll never guess what,” Dra’Kaedan remarked and
clenched his fists with excitement.

“Squirt, let Devlin and Grymmie get a chance to tell people
things,” High King Aleksander said to the Grand Warlock.

For as long as Grymington had known the pair, they’d
teased each other. While Dra’Kaedan had a plethora of nicknames for Aleksander, the
warlock was always Squirt to the High King.

“The excitement might kill me, Tallosaur, but okay,”
Dra’Kaedan replied and grabbed Grymington. He’d snagged Grymington so swiftly, the
reaper nearly fell into the warlock who was holding him so tightly it was hard to suck in a
breath. “Congratulations.”

“Why are we congratulating Grymmie?” Lich Sentinel Alaric
Daray asked as he walked into the room.

“They haven’t told us yet,” Baxter complained.

Since Devlin was still on the floor with Hekate, who’d
allowed the singer to smother her with pets, Grymington supposed it fell to him to make the
announcement. Excitement was undoubtedly expected of him, but he couldn’t feel anything
other than fear.

“Devlin is my mate,” Grymington stated as Dra’Kaedan
released him.

Whether it was the fact that Grymington’s voice lacked any
inflection or the surprise of his family gathering in the D’Vaire great room, silence reigned
for several tense moments.
