A fallen angel with a broken heart. The third horseman
who rejected him. A love that can destroy them both.

Blurb

Punished for choosing love over faith, the Archangel of
Kindness emerged from a century of confinement enshrined in darkness, a shell of his
former self. Rejected by the very Being for whom he sold his soul, the last threads of his
sanity were stripped away. He is now Lucifer, the King of Hell.

Famine’s choices have only ever caused suffering for those
he loves. He struggles with guilt, blaming himself for what Lucifer has become. He’s certain
keeping his distance is the only way he can ensure Lucifer falls no further.

But together or apart, on the same side or not, it doesn’t
matter. They are forever bound, forced to endure a never-ending loop of anguish. Betrayed
and surrounded by new threats, they find themselves relying on each other while battling
their own demons. But soon a choice must be made: allow their love to destroy them both
or embrace it before the world ends.

Famine is the
third book in the Four Horsemen series. This book is
not a standalone and must be read in order.

Content Warnings: Religious themes, extreme violence,
gore, and others.

Arachnophobia warning: There is also a dog-sized pet
spider named Paul who just wants to be loved.

This is a paranormal, second chance, lovers-to-enemies-
to-lovers, MM romance filled with snark and morally questionable characters. It ends with a
HFN and a mild plot cliffhanger.

Excerpt

Famine moved closer to Lucifer as though being drawn into his
orbit. Lucifer wondered if it was a conscious movement or if it was instinct. It was instinct for
him. Every fiber of him always wanted to be closer to Famine. He hoped—even
knowing how moronic it was to hope after every hand he’d been dealt—that
Famine felt the same. Lucifer needed him to. Needed him to want Lucifer with the same raw
need that Lucifer wanted him. It had to be mutual. This much longing and anguish and
palpable loss was too much for him to shoulder alone.

He savored any chance just to be in Famine’s presence—had
summoned the Horsemen for no other purpose than just to see him again. The
carnage of it was delectable, of course, but it was a pleasant bonus, not the aim. The mere
minutes Lucifer spent with Famine between years apart was agony, but every waking
moment was spent only in anticipation of them. Being this close to Famine and not touching
was the worst torture he had ever endured.

He couldn’t be alone in this. He couldn’t.

“These are only the start of the creatures that God has under
his command,” Famine continued. “If he’s choosing to let these loose, there’s no telling
what’s next.”

“No,” Lucifer said. They all turned to look at him, and he gave
them a secretive closed-mouth smile. He did enjoy being the center of attention. And
making them wait.

He closed the remaining distance between himself and Famine,
pressing the tips of his fingers against Famine’s cheek. Famine’s light-blue eyes darkened,
and the sight of them heated Lucifer’s blood and made lust curl in the depths of his
stomach. He had never touched another after Famine, even after all this time. And he was
starved for the kind of touch that only Famine could gift him. That Famine had
been keeping from him.

“Sometimes,” he murmured, for Famine’s ears only, “I want to
peel the skin from your bones, make you hurt and bleed the way you make me.”

The heat in Famine’s eyes didn’t diminish from the words. If
anything, they darkened further, the pulse in his throat visible and tempting Lucifer to bite
down, to taste.

“It is never my intention to make you hurt.”

“You think intent matters?” Lucifer gripped Famine’s upper arm
and tugged him closer until their breath mingled. “When I lie broken and bruised and
aching for you, do you think I care about intent?” They would continue to hurt
each other for eternity regardless of intent.

“Get your fucking hands off him,” War snarled.

Lucifer didn’t move, his eyes flicking to where War was
pointing his sword at them. As though Lucifer was afraid of him. Lucifer feared no one. No
one but Famine, who had the power to destroy him. Who already had, too many times to
count.

Famine lifted a hand to placate his brother. “It’s fine.”

Uriel rolled his eyes and turned from them, surveying the area.
“Tell us what you meant, Lucifer, or be on your way to do whatever it is you do when you
have no purpose.”

Lucifer stroked Famine’s cheek and then moved up to lightly
grasp the curls of his brown hair. He urged Famine forward and Famine followed, bending to
him and resting his forehead on Lucifer’s shoulder. Lucifer’s insides wobbled, pleasure and
joy singing in his veins at the instant, easy acceptance of his touch.

Lucifer breathed in deeply, his nose pressed against Famine’s
hair. It smelled like blueberries, freshly mowed grass, and a hint of lemon.

Excerpt

He takes the stairs two at a time in a bounding, clumsy sort
of fashion unlike most vampires I’ve encountered. A wide grin stretches across his youthful
face, but you never know with a vampire. He could be older than me, though for some
reason I doubt it. He doesn’t just look young, he acts it too, flopping into the small room,
into my space without so much as a
by your
leave
, and dropping his pack on the little table
next to me. The urge to bat it right off again strikes, but I resist.

“Wow. You must be Leonas. You’re even scarier looking
than Ivaz warned. But he also said not to worry. That you would act mean but that you
weren’t really mean. ‘Just a kitten,’ he said. That true? I’ve never met a panther
before.”

Irritation crawls beneath my skin and settles at the back of
my neck and the tip of my tongue. I’ll have a few words for Ivaz when next I see him. “And
you are?”

“Jeno!” He says his name like it’s a prize rather than a basic
introduction and thrusts his hand toward my center, dopey grin still intact.

I stare at it through lowered lids. No. Will not be touching
him. He’s already acting too familiar for my comfort. I don’t plan to encourage it. “What’s
your business here?”

His brows crumple as he withdraws his hand. “Letters.” He
regains a modicum of his former exuberance. “I’m the new messenger.”

Since when do the vampires allow messengers to be this
young? I study him. His tanned skin still retains human pores. His mouth, a rosy shade of
pink with slight protrusions where fangs lay hidden beneath, trembles as if he’s finally
realizing he stands before a true threat and not the harmless kitten Ivaz so erroneously
made me out to be.

My own lips part as I take in his wide eyes, hazel jewels
sparkling with questions, staring at mine as if it’s I who hold the answers. They spell me with
their beauty. A rush of warmth fills my chest.

I shake myself out of it with an irritated huff. “And so? Hand
over the letters, then.”

He squints. It’s cute. I hate him.

After years of cruelty, how do
you learn to trust? To love?

Blurb

After years of cruelty, how do you learn to trust? To
love?

It may be 2022, but the modern world has done nothing to
protect me.

I live in the world of the British nobility, a secret society of
magic, mages and vessels.

There are strict rules and customs and no freedom at
all.

My name is Charlie, but to society, I’m just a vessel. A
person who grows and absorbs magic within them, but cannot wield it.

As tradition dictates, on my eighteenth birthday, I was given
to a mage. From that day onwards, every seven days for four long years, Earl Rathbone took
my body to take my magic.

Earl Rathbone was a cruel and harsh master. But it was ‘the
done thing’ and society turned a blind eye to my mistreatment.

Until the earl’s son finally intervened and whisked me away.
Sending me to Archie. The Earl of Hathbury.

Archie is kind and sweet. The man loves books nearly as
much as I do. He is nothing like Earl Rathbone.

Yet, giving Archie my body and my magic is daunting. But it
is my duty and a necessity. As a vessel, I need a mage to regularly empty me or I could
die.

To my great relief, Archie is understanding and gentle, and
it’s not long before I start to fall for him. Finding my duty more of a pleasure.

Archie seems to enjoy our time together more than is
proper, and I am hopeful.

But can Archie be trusted? Is he really safe? Will I ever be
truly free?

Excerpt

Sighing wistfully, I continued my meander around the
grounds. I turned a corner around a tall hedge and found a swimming pool. I blinked in
surprise. The old families usually considered them vulgar. Something only new money
garishly indulged in.

It was quite tucked away and hidden by tall hedges.
Whoever had installed it had known it was something to be embarrassed about.

It looked clean, if a bit tatty. It had obviously been here for
a while. The pool was a decent size, surrounded by well-maintained grass. There were no
sun loungers nor any other accouterments. I wondered if anyone still used it.

A few stray leaves floated on the surface, but the water
looked clear. Calm and inviting. Sod it. I had nothing better to do. The day was warm enough
that I’d soon dry off, even without a towel. I stripped down to my underwear, a pair of
simple white briefs. Leaving my clothes carelessly strewn across the grass, I sat on the edge
of the pool and dipped my toe in.

It was delightfully warm. A heated pool. Now, that was a
pleasant surprise. Grinning, I slipped in. The water was divine. Feeling far too lazy to do laps,
I merely bobbed around for a while. Then I floated on my back and closed my eyes. The
feeling of weightlessness in the warm water, combined with the sun shining down and the
birdsong, was wonderful. Maybe swimming could become my new hobby. I could come here
every day. I’d soon get fit, I supposed. If I actually swam instead of floating around.

But this relaxation was lovely. Doing this everyday sounded
far more alluring. I could call it meditation or something. Maybe do a bit of yoga at the
poolside, so it didn’t feel quite so decadent.

Someone coughed, and it startled me so much I nearly
drowned trying to get to my feet. Spluttering water out of my mouth and wiping it from my
eyes, so I could see, I looked up.

It was Archie. Standing by the pool. Holding a folded white
towel and wearing a white robe. His shapely legs were bare, and he had flip-flops on his feet.
He had come to swim in his secret pool and found me in it.

I scrambled to the edge and heaved myself up. The poor
man took a step backwards as I lunged out of the pool to stand before him, water streaming
off of me onto the grass.

“I’m sorry!” I gasped, pushing my sodden hair out of my
eyes with both my hands.

Archie just stared at me. A strange look on his face. His
cheeks were heated, unsurprisingly. He was probably furious at me.

“It’s quite alright,” he said after a while, but his voice
sounded strained.

“I’ll… I’ll leave you to your peace,” I stuttered and hastily
scooped up my clothes that seemed to be scattered everywhere. Making it take forever to
gather them. When I eventually had them all, I ran.

When I was far enough away, out of sight and hearing, I
stopped, chest heaving. I dropped my clothes onto the ground so I could start dressing. As I
glanced down, I saw my wet underwear was entirely see through.

Groaning, I covered my blush with my hands. Not that there
was anyone to see now.

“Nice one, Charlie,” I said to myself. Just what his lordship
wanted to see.
I thought sarcastically. Great way to
get to know your new master, invade his private pool and then flash him.

Excerpt

“Please don’t make this harder than it needs to be,” Famine said, his
voice low. “You know something.”

“I know many things,” Lucifer said. He slowly circled Famine, his tail
dragging on the concrete behind him. It slid over Famine’s boots, scratching lines into the
black.

Famine didn’t follow the movement, even when his instincts screamed
at him not to let Lucifer stand at his back. He had trusted Samael with everything in him, and
he wanted—wanted so badly—to be able to trust Lucifer, even though he knew it was futile.
Lucifer still loved him but that love had been contorted, turned to something dark and
nothing like the beautiful love they had once shared. He was just as likely to stab Famine in
the back as he was to kiss it. A deep, dark, twisted part of Famine didn’t care which one he
did, so long as Lucifer touched him. When Lucifer touched him with any kind of intent,
everything in Famine settled. The world righted itself, and the turmoil that he lived with
every day seemed less, more manageable.

Sharp nails slid across his back. They didn’t dig enough to draw blood,
but even through the fabric of his shirt Famine felt it. He flinched, even as warmth trailed
out from the places Lucifer touched.

“I have so many secrets, Famine,” Lucifer whispered. He pressed his
nose against Famine’s nape, breathing in deeply. Wet flicked across his skin—Lucifer’s
tongue.

“I gather them, so you’re forced to come to me. To beg.”

He has far too much
nerve. He can blow things up with his mind. He’s got anxiety. Yeah. The world should
probably brace itself for this one.

Blurb

British superheroes, melodramatic Mages, snarky secret
agents, one hell of a found family, and a whole load of weird people.

Also, there’s a duck.

This is the painfully bizarre origin story of Rexley
Nova.

When Rex was four years old, he became one of
the world’s first superhumans.

When Rex turns twenty, he feels the drive to use
his scientifically given abilities to protect the world. He leaves home to become a member of
the Secret Superhero Security unit, alongside three of his friends and Danger City’s own
superhero, Polaris.

Rex fights murderous Mages, evil organisations,
criminal mafias, his agency appointed psychiatrist, his own anxious brain, and the most
frightening of all, his attraction to a certain blue-eyed superhero.

Excerpt

“Come on, North,” I say, coaxing, spitting blood out of my
mouth. “Don’t be nice.” I get as close as he’ll let me. “Treat me like you’re paying for it.”

Damon’s nose flares, and his lips curl to form a jagged snarl. His
expression changing from robot to human in zero point five seconds flat. He makes a low
sound that’s just the right side of threatening to be a problem for me. And not in the way it
should be a problem for me.

Damon catches my arm at the right angle and twists me
around so my back is pressed against his front. He wraps an arm securely around my waist,
hauling me in even closer. A blaze of heat singes along my nerves when Damon runs his
hand under my T-shirt, his fingers dragging over the hot skin of my belly. I try to kill it dead,
the vulnerable quiver his intimate touch invokes, but that just makes it worse.

A full-on no-shit bonfire lights up inside my stomach. It sends a
fucked-up message to my head, which in turn sends an even more fucked-up message to my
cock. It’s like my body is playing telephone with itself.

You’re not supposed to want to get off with the bloke who’s
making you bruise and bleed. Not without a serious discussion about it beforehand,
anyway.

Pretty sure Damon and I aren’t going to be doing anything that
sensible. Especially since the most sensible thing would be letting go and walking away
before we can make this situation any worse.

Damon wraps his other hand around my throat, fingers digging
in lightly, his thumb pressing against the edge of my jaw. He tilts my head to the side,
exposing more of my throat to him. I resist the urge to lean my head back on his shoulder.
Because I’m not mad.

My chest rapidly rises and falls as I struggle to breathe. It’s not
really because of all the hits I’ve taken. I’m having more trouble dealing with Damon’s
proximity than I am to what he’s done to me with his hands. A sign that maybe he was
pulling some of his punches.

“You,” I say, barely getting the words out through all the
tightness and the pain and the blood, “have got some serious control issues, North.” I shift
against him, and he tightens his hold in response. I smile, oddly charmed by it.

“Might want—” Another few unsteady breaths. “—to see
somebody about that.”

Damon feels like solid stone against my back, his body so tense
I’m worried he might shatter if I tap the wrong spot too hard. As if in response to my
thoughts, Damon’s arm around my waist changes from tight to crushing. His fingers press
into my neck with clear intention. Not enough to choke. Just a reminder. Or a warning. A
warning to be careful where I’m going with all of this.

My pale skin bruises easily. I can tell I’m going to have some on
my throat. I don’t hate that idea like I should. And something about it being Damon who
made them, whose fingers dug into my skin and left behind a mark, speaks to a primal part
of my brain.

Damon’s mouth skates along my jaw, either by accident or on
purpose, I’m not sure which. It doesn’t really matter. A short, bitten-off moan leaves my
throat in a rush. I clamp my lips together to try to contain the rest of it. But it’s too late.
Damon heard it. A shudder runs through him, a ripple of feeling and skin and warmth. An
answering wave rolls through me, my body set to quaking.

I need to stop.

Damon bends his neck to speak directly into my ear. Our height
and size difference aids him in making me feel completely taken over, enveloped, held in
place, swallowed up and overwhelmed by my temporary loss of autonomy.

“Is this a game?” Damon asks, and he sounds, it beggars belief,
genuinely upset by the idea.

You don’t need a body to have a heart.

Blurb

People talk about the marriage of true minds, but Alexander doesn’t think this is what they meant.

After a cruel experiment binds him to the soul of Rota, an old god, Alexander has one mission: find Rota’s body. Having a godly boyfriend is great, but it would be better to have one that he could actually touch. Unfortunately, even Alexander’s ability to command Rota’s divine power hasn’t helped.

A rare book of poetry may finally provide the answer. The expertise they need translating it brings them to Oleander Logue, a young man with plenty of problems that seem at odds with his cheerful nature. Ollie is happy to help, but he’s in trouble with a gangster who demands that Alexander and Rota solve a series of murders first.

Desperate, Alexander and Rota accept the case… but it’s not that simple. The gangster’s threats to Ollie’s safety disturb them both, but is that because they’re both growing more attracted to Ollie… or because he’s a potential host for Rota? If they can’t solve these murders, they may never find out.

Excerpt

“Thank you!” Ollie gushed. “That was so cool! You totally just kicked Nathaniel’s ass!”

Alexander swallowed a squeak and forgot how to work all of his muscles. Ollie was so warm, and he smelled like alcohol, cigarettes, and patchouli oil with a hint of vanilla.

“Seriously, that was amazing!” Ollie turned Alexander so he could beam down at him, still hugging him close. “I mean, okay, it’s kinda your fault he got in here, but thank you.” He smiled wider. “Whoa. Your eyeballs are turning all pink.”

Alexander was torn between pushing Ollie away and melting into his arms. The simple affection was making his knees weak, having for so long only experienced physical touch that was designed to hurt. His brain refused to cooperate, and all he could do was stutter, “Y-yeah, they do that.”

Who was that man, Ollie? Rota asked.

Alexander slipped away from Ollie, mourning the loss of contact the second he did. He scrambled to get another cigarette. “Yeah, and what was he? I’ve never seen magic like that before.”

“His name is Nathaniel Ware.” Ollie fidgeted and dipped back into the kitchen, still talking. “He is so not fuckin’ human. He’s, like, a troll dude with tusks and a long tail.”

An Absola? Rota sounded intrigued. Here on Aeon?

The gods had created many monstrous creatures before mortals, including a troll-like race of beings called the Absola. They, along with the other so-called everlasting people, were said to have gone with the gods into the dreaming, and neither Alexander nor Rota had heard of any living in this world for thousands of years.

“Yeah, but not, like, all the way?” Ollie mused. “He’s like a diet Absola.”

“But the Absola don’t control time or space,” Alexander pointed out. “The Faedra do.”

“Whatever! Look, he’s a freaky monster guy, and he works for Sullivan Stoker. Do you know who that is?”

“No.” Alexander grabbed the book to put back in his pocket and followed Ollie. Unsurprisingly, the kitchen was as much of a disaster as the rest of the apartment.

Ollie was pouring red wine into two glasses as he explained, “He’s a crime boss. Like, this big drug lord. And okay, so I may have had a tiny drug problem before. When I first got the eyeballs of Yeris, I had trouble dealing with it.” He thrust a glass at Alexander.

“No thanks.”

Ollie poured it into his glass and sipped off the excess. “I made okay money translating, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with my habit, so I started taking product on credit. Like, so much. And I kinda owe him a lot of money, and he’s very unhappy with me. I’ve been trying to make payments, and he’s been chill ’cause my uncle is a cop, but—”

“He’s tired of waiting and he’s sending goons after you?” Alexander finished.

“Yeah. Damn. You should be a detective.”

“How about this?” Alexander crossed his arms. “I’ll keep the criminal scum from hounding you in exchange for you translating the book?”

“I, I guess that could work.” Ollie frowned. “Will you…. Will you stay here? I need some time to figure out how to deal with Stoker, and, and I’ll find a way to make the translating work, okay?”

“Okay. I’ll put new wards up, and if anyone is stupid enough to come back, I’ll—”

“Where are you gonna sleep?”

“What?”

Ollie scratched his head. “My bed is kinda small, but I guess we could share—”

“Your couch is fine.” Alexander blushed miserably. He could not handle the mere thought of being anywhere near a bed with Ollie right now. He had to be going insane. That’s all it was. “Once it’s cleaned up, of course.”

You should take better care of your home, Ollie. It’s quite a mess.

“I know.” Ollie sighed. “It’s so damn bad. I just never have the energy, and I’ve been really depressed. Like, forever depressed. I died a little, my ex is getting married… it’s been a whole thing.”

Alexander had the inexplicable desire to reach out for Ollie. It was obvious he was upset, and Alexander wanted to feel his arms around him again. He stayed where he was, taking a step back for good measure, as if the distance would quell the urge.

So, you’re single?

“Rota!” Alexander barked, angrily chanting inside his head, Shut up, shut up, shut up!

“Yeah. Duh.” Ollie snorted and slurped more of his wine. He swayed and leaned against the counter, eyeing where Rota was hovering behind Alexander. He grinned. “Okay, wait. Are you hitting on me?”

I believe we are, yes. We’re not very good at it, but we’re making an effort.

“No, we’re not!” Alexander gritted his teeth. “Hey! You look good and drunk. Book. Now.”

Say please.

“Please,” Alexander hissed.

“Okay, okay, sure thing.” Ollie was still grinning. “You know, if you were hitting on me, I would have to tell you—”

A portal opened up and a hand slid through, snatching Ollie so fast that he dropped his wine. The glass hit the ground, shattering as the portal closed.

Just like that, Ollie was gone.

Someone is hunting
supernaturals

Blurb

Pōneke Shadows Book 1

Vampires and werewolves live long lives. The Sleepless City
saga might have ended but the story continues…

Someone is hunting supernaturals.

Vampire Simon Hawthorne and his human partner Ben
Leyton’s plans for a peaceful holiday with family are hijacked by the New Zealand
Supernatural Council.

Tensions are on the rise in Wellington. Supernatural
councillors are disappearing. Werewolves are suspicious of anyone human or vampire. If
they don’t work together, their enemy has already won.

And no one with a connection to the supernatural world is
safe.

Excerpt

Rupert looked mildly affronted. “I am not in hiding. The council
were trying to get me involved, and I make a point of not getting mixed up in their politics,
whatever the cost, considering that cost is usually too high for anyone but them.”

“You’re hiding from the council?” Ben asked. “I can understand
that. They hijacked Simon’s delivery at Auckland airport, then blackmailed him into helping
them.”

“If this is supposed to surprise me, you’re a few centuries late
with that titbit of information,” Rupert said. “I have yet to meet a council I enjoyed doing
business with. Though there was that group of werewolves in rural Japan a couple of
hundred years ago that—”

“Why are you here?” Simon cut Rupert off before he could
start on one of his stories. Although neither he nor Marion would admit it, they shared a
predilection for embellishing stories about their pasts.

Rupert fished a large envelope from his pocket and handed it
to Simon. “This is the information I have, but it’s not a lot. They cover their tracks well, apart
from that massacre in Brisbane nearly ten years ago. There is someone in Wellington who
provides a safe haven to anyone in our community who asks for it. Nothing much happens in
the area that Elard doesn’t know about. You should talk to him.”

“You’re not going to help?” Ben asked

“Heavens, no.” Rupert raised an eyebrow. “At least Simon
knows better than to ask that.”

“Rupert’s better at staying in the shadows and orchestrating
things from afar. If we need help, I’m sure he’ll be there…” Simon glanced at Rupert. “… but
only on his own terms. I’d ask him to join our team, but it would be a waste of time.”

“Totally a waste of time.” Rupert grinned and nodded towards
both of them in turn. “Now, I must be off. I’ll be in touch. Watch yourselves, gentlemen. I
don’t enjoy funerals.” He blurred towards the door. It opened, then closed behind him, and
then he was gone.

“He’s kind of how I remember him, but not,” Ben said
slowly.

“The not, would be because you didn’t know what he was
then. He’s not hiding it now, though he’s never completely upfront about anything.” Simon
emptied the envelope, took a pile of neatly typewritten sheets to read, and gave the rest to
Ben to look through. “Rupert’s always had his own agenda. It’s how he’s managed to survive
so long.”

“Uh-huh.” Ben shook the papers he held. “There’s something
loose in here.” A small card fell to the floor. He picked it up and his eyes widened. “It’s a
business card, so guessing it’s Elard’s.”

“And?” Simon asked, knowing there must be an ‘and’.

“He’s a Catholic priest.” Ben read the words on the card out
loud. “Fr Elard Reith, St Ansgar’s Parish, Newtown. We help those who ask.” He groaned.
“Oh great, I was hoping to avoid Uncle Martin while I was here.”

“Uncle Martin?” Simon asked. Ben had mentioned him once or
twice, but he’d got the impression Ben’s father’s brother wasn’t that close to the rest of the
family.

“Yeah. He lives across the road from St Ansgar’s and always
acts like he knows stuff the rest of us don’t.”

“Perhaps he does.” Simon got up to pour some more tea.

“I hope not.” Ben didn’t look happy. “It’s starting to feel like
however hard we try to keep my family out of all this, fate is making damn sure they keep
barging in.”

Deception is new to Greyson
and Morgen, but they’ll soon learn it has surrounded them all along.

Blurb

Greyson Variusdraconis is a newly shifted dragon searching
for purpose. Growing up in the Consilium Veneficus, his tutors taught him not to trust Fate.
Raised by his elder brother who serves their king directly, Greyson still lives under his
sibling’s roof. King Varius recently signed a treaty, so Greyson’s job is guarding wizards.
Greyson finds it boring, and he worries his brother will never accept his desire to avoid a

political arranged marriage.

As a child, Morgen Bassett struggled to find his footing. Two
centuries later, the wizard works in a tiny library, lacks family, and has a rented room barely
large enough for its furniture. Although Morgen’s early education included mentions of
matebonds, the split between the Council of Sorcery and Shifters and the Consilium changed
everything. With no promise of his other half or anything else, Morgen is doing little more
than surviving.

On an otherwise normal trip to the supermarket, Greyson
and Morgen meet, and neither man is prepared for the force of their connection. Not long
after the sparks fly between them, Greyson accepts a mission to infiltrate the Draconis High
Court of D’Vaire. The pair will have to find a way to stay together. Should they be successful
in gaining entry, they’ll also need to learn how to unearth all the D’Vaire secrets. However,
Greyson and Morgen will soon find that nothing about their lives is what it seems.

Excerpt

When Morgen lifted to his toes and tilted his chin up for a kiss,
Greyson’s mouth landed on the wizard’s, and he tugged him into his arms for a hug.
Everything in Greyson settled for a minute, then his worry over the conversation they
needed to have filled his senses again.

“Sorry I’m late.”

“Was there traffic?” Morgen asked, stepping away from
Greyson and leading him to his room.

“No, my brother wanted to talk to me.”

“Is everything okay?”

“I hope so,” Greyson said. “Sit on the bed with me.”

Once Morgen was settled on the bed next to Greyson, he
gently pushed some of his bangs out of the wizard’s unique eyes. There was concern in
them, and Greyson wanted to alleviate it, so he got straight to the point.

“I’m being sent on assignment in a few weeks. King Varius and
my brother are going to help me get into the sanctuary at D’Vaire. We need to figure out
how to recruit dragons. Either we discover D’Vaire is not what it seems, or I study the
Council to find the weak points so we can advertise that the Council is inferior to the
Consilium. They want me to stay until I gain everyone’s trust, so they expect I’ll be gone for
many months or longer.”

Morgen’s gaze hit his lap, and he exhaled heavily. Instead of
putting his hand into Greyson’s as he usually did, Morgen clasped them together and put
them between his legs.

“You’re leaving?”

“In a couple of weeks, yes,” Greyson said. “It has me thinking
about us. We don’t know everything about each other after a week, but we’re both
determined to learn more. We’re united in following what our souls and Fate are telling us.
I’d hoped someday to ask you to move to Court Varius. Today at lunch, I was looking around
online and found that there’s a library within biking distance from my brother’s house. I
thought it could possibly be a good place for you to work if you wanted.”

“I biked to work prior to finding this room.”

The words were soft, and Morgen still wouldn’t look at
him.

“Come to D’Vaire with me. We could work on our relationship
while I handle my assignment. We’ll potentially be there for a long time. I bet we’ll be ready
to seal our bond before we learn the things King Varius wants to know. When we return to
Court Varius, we could be bonded mates. My brother wouldn’t be able to say shite about
political marriages or anything else. We’d be together, and he’d have to accept it.”

Morgen’s head lifted, and he stared at Greyson for several
seconds, then he bit his bottom lip. “You want me to go with you?”

“Didn’t I just ask you to? Of course I do. Think about it. Our
only job would be research. That’s something we both love, and we’d be together the whole
time. We’d get to learn everything about each other, and these feelings we’re building would
grow.”

“How could I go?”

“We’ll figure it out. I promise. There’s no question that I’ll leave
here without you. I can’t say no to my king, but I think I can be pretty convincing. You do
seem to like me.”

With a small smile, Morgen reached over and slipped his hand
into Greyson’s. “There’s nothing keeping me bound to my job or this room. I don’t like the
idea of springing us on your brother when we get back, though.”

“We’ll tell him before we make the trip home. No worries.
We’ll figure out the best way to tackle the entire situation as a team. What do you say? Do
you want to handle this secret mission with me?”

“As long as you promise I get to take a trip to the Spectra
Library.”

“I’m not leaving the Council without seeing it either,” Greyson
assured him. “What do you say we get some takeaway and start our research?”

“A kiss could sway me.”

Greyson grinned. His fingers danced over Morgen’s jaw, his
lovely lips, then Greyson settled his mouth on the wizard’s. Morgen touched his tongue to
Greyson’s, and all thoughts of subterfuge, D’Vaire, and giant libraries flowed out of his
brain.
